I try to keep my hair as healthy as possible and with all the bleaching that means washing it only a few times a week. Let’s be honest I’m also super lazy so I’m not complaining! With that being said, I use a ton of dry shampoo to keep my hair looking fresh. I was noticing a lot of buildup on my scalp even after washing my hair.
Naturally, I shared my dilemma with my hairstylist and that is when I first heard of double cleansing. She told me on my shampoo days, shampoo twice. The first time will be used for getting a lot of the build up off and you’ll notice the second time that the shampoo suds up wayyyy more and really washes. It made such a difference and now I do that any shampoo day that it’s been awhile.
About a year after that, I was watching my beauty guru friend’s Instagram stories @demyfobellah. She shared her 2020 favorites and educated us on facts about each product and different ingredients. I HIGHLY recommend reading. You can check it out here.
On one of the days she was talking about double cleansing your face (skip to slide 15 to check that out). It clicked to me that this was just like my scalp! So I started immediately and really noticed a difference. Just like my scalp, the cleanser really suds up more after a first cleanse. I only do this in the evening and on days when I wear makeup or SPF. I don’t want to overdo it and dry out my face since I do wash both morning + night.

And now I am avid about double cleansing and try to share with everyone in my path. I hope you learned something new today. Let me know in the comments if you try either out!
